Amazing final for the 2008  Supercross Series: Fabien Izoird is the new European Champion changing all the obvious forecasts. Great public to the Palafiera, arrived to acclaim the protagonists of the Continental Series who have respected the expectations presenting high fighting spirits ready to close this gorgeous Challenge.

Game over, the French Fabien izoird (Suzuki – Cross Import) takes the place of   Antonio Cairoli as the Champion of the Supercross Series. An extraordinary race because of the announced fight between the American giant Jason Lawrence (Yamaha –Evolution) and the Championship leader Benjamin Coisy (Honda Martin – Racing), a battle that has immediately finished because a fall down of the Californian guy at the second corner of the Main Event. Coisy  had the same penalty because of a problem occurred to his Honda engine during the third lap of the Main Event. Out the favourite riders fighting for the victory as Matteo Bonini, who has lighted on the great public that has filled up the Genoa Palafiera. He has been the author of the Hole shot and has immediately starter a fight versus Marvin Musquin, who touched his challenger handlebar during his try to surpass him, and consequently they have fallen down together. As a consequence Izoird has taken the lead of the race. Izoird trying not to make mistakes, has been run up by Musquin, who restarted quickly after his fall. Behind them an amazing Meo, who riding his new Husqvarna TC 250 model year 2009, has reached the third place. Musquin has immediately imposed an high level rhythm to the race and has fast reached the final victory. He has been helped by Izoird paying more attention to the final has been exciting thanks to classification, rather than to the race, due to the fact that the second place could make him the European Champion.  However the final part of the race thanks to the run up of Vongsana (Honda SRS- St Racing), fallen at the first lap and restarted, has reached the podium. He showed to be one of the best supercross specialist through the attack he made, when he got the third position and Meo fallen down in the attempt to contrast him. The other American Ryan Beat (Yamaha – Evolution) closed fifth, reaching his best result in the European supercross series.

Esaltante epilogo per la serie Supercross 2008 Fabien Izoird è il nuovo Campione Europeo sovvertendo tutti i pronostici della vigilia. Palafiera gremito in ogni ordine di posti per applaudire i protagonisti della serie continentale che non hanno disatteso le aspettative, regalando ai presenti momenti ad alto contenuto agonistico come ottima conclusione di questo esaltante challenge.

I giochi sono fatti, il francese Fabien Izoird (Suzuki – Cross Import) è il successore di Antonio Cairoli sul trono della Serie Supercross. Una gara dai mille risvolti, con l’annunciata lotta tra il “colosso” statunitense Jason Lawrence (Yamaha –Evolution) ed il leader di campionato Benjamin Coisy (Honda Martin – Racing), che si è spenta sul nascere a causa di una caduta alla seconda curva del main event che è costata la possibilità di combattere per la vittoria al pilota californiano. Non migliore sorte l’ha dovuta patire Coisy che si è dovuto arrendere ad un problema meccanico alla sua Honda durante il terzo giro del main event. Out i più quotati piloti che si contendevano la palma del migliore è stato Matteo Bonini ad infiammare il numeroso pubblico genovese che come ogni anno ha riempito il palafiera. Autore della hole shot, Bonini ha ingaggiato subito una lotta con Marvin Musquin che, nel tentativo estremo di sopravanzare l’avversario si è involontariamente agganciato al suo manubrio causando la caduta di entrambi. Con Bonini costretto alla resa per un brutto colpo ricevuto nella caduta ma privo di conseguenze fisiche, è stato Izoird a prendere la testa della corsa. Con un occhio alle sue spalle per controllare la posizione del rivale per il titolo continentale Coisy, Izoird ha subito la rimonta di Musquin ripartito velocemente dopo la caduta. Alle loro spalle un fantastico Meo, al debutto con la nuova Husqvarna TC 250 model year 2009, si è attestato al terzo posto aggredendo gli ostacoli artificiali in maniera impeccabile. Musquin ha subito imposto un ritmo elevato alla gara e si è presto involato verso la vittoria finale agevolato soprattutto dalla gara accorta che Fabien Izoird ha impostato dopo essere stato opportunamente avvisato delle vicissitudine dei suoi avversari per la lotta al titolo che, con la seconda posizione gli garantivano di fatto la conquista del meritato alloro. Finale comunque emozionante data l’eccezionale rimonta di Khounsith Vongsana (Honda SRS- St Racing) che, caduto in partenza e ripartito in ultima posizione, è riuscito a recuperare fino ad agganciare Antoine Meo. Con un attacco degno dei migliori specialisti del supercross d’oltre oceano, il diciannovenne francese ha agguantato il terzo gradino del podio costringendo Meo alla caduta, nel tentativo di contenere il suo sorpasso. Quinto al termine, e migliore risultato della serie europea, l’altro statunitense Ryan Beat (Yamaha – Evolution). Izoird campione europeo ha festeggiato il suo titolo continentale in compagnia dei connazionali Coisy e Musquin che si sono rispettivamente classificati secondo e terzo in campionato.
