AT THE STARTING GATE THE FIRST ROUND OF THE “EICMA INTERNAZIONALI DI MOTOCROSS” CHAMPIONSHIP
Ad Alghero ha preso il via la stagione 2026 di MX e lo ha fatto alla grande con gare bellissime, tirate e spettacolari. Vince Lucas Coenen in MX1 e il fratello Sasha si aggiudica la MX2, mentre nella 125 sul primo posto sale Moritz Ernecker
The 2026 MX season kicked off in Alghero with a bang, featuring exciting, hard-fought, and spectacular races.
Lucas Coenen won the MX1 class and his brother Sasha took the MX2 title, while Moritz Ernecker claimed first place in the 125 class.
Report Time – Oltre 120 piloti al via per questa prima gara degli Internazionali d’Italia MX EICMA SERIES sulla difficile e tecnica pista sabbiosa della Sardegna.
Il tempo meteo è stato tra i protagonisti della giornata, visto che alla mattina ha deciso anche di grandinare durante le prove, ma poi Alghero ci ha regalato un bellissimo sole per tutte le manche e la pista si è asciugata man mano che i riders giravano in pista.
Un tracciato che giro dopo giro si è modificato, impegnando mezzi e piloti, soprattutto la parte tecnica delle moto è stata messa a dura prova in questa prima uscita di stagione.
Primi test per tanti team e altrettanti riders, che hanno iniziato a prendere confidenza con i nuovi mezzi con i quali dovranno combattere nel campionato del mondo per conquistare il titolo o posizioni nei top five. Per questa prima prova di Alghero infatti abbiamo assistito a diversi debutti di concorrenti che hanno cambiato moto e squadre.
Due manche disputate per ogni categoria con risultati importanti che ci accompagneranno fino alla prova successiva di Mantova.
Report Time – Over 120 riders lined up at the start of this first race of the “EICMA Internazionali d’Italia” on the difficult and technical sandy track in Sardinia.
The weather was one of the protagonists of the day, as it decided to hail during the morning practice sessions, but then Alghero gave us beautiful sunshine for all the heats and the track dried out as the riders took to the track.
The track changed lap after lap, challenging both bikes and riders, with the technical aspects of the bikes being put to the test in this first outing of the season.
These were the first tests for many teams and riders, who began to familiarize themselves with the new bikes they will be riding in the world championship to fight for the title or positions in the top five. In fact, for this first round in Alghero, we saw several debuts by competitors who have changed bikes and teams.
Two races were held for each category, with important results that will stay with us until the next round in Mantova.
Nella MX1 Lucas Coenen (Team Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) ha vinto entrambe le manche: nella prima è partito molto forte mentre nella seconda ha rimontato poche posizioni prima di portarsi al comando e andare a vincere in solitario. Ottima la prestazione di Andrea Adamo (Team Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) che nella prima frazione ha conquistato la seconda posizione e nella conclusiva era alle spalle del leader con un buon ritmo quando ha dovuto fermarsi per un inconveniente tecnico.
Secondo sul podio è salito Tim Gajser (Team Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP), all’esordio per questa stagione con la Yamaha. Lo sloveno ha portato a termine due manche conservative, di sicuro valide per prendere sempre più feeling con la moto, ma anche per comprendere il suo stato di forma fisica; frazioni concluse rispettivamente al quinto e secondo posto, dove non è mai sembrato forzare troppo il ritmo. Lo rivedremo a Mantova per comprendere sempre di più come potrebbe essere la sua stagione 2026.
Conclude il podio al terzo posto lo spagnolo Oliver Oriol (Team KTM SS24) grazie a due piazzamenti sulla insidiosa pista di Alghero.
In MX1, Lucas Coenen (Team Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) won both races: he started very strongly in the first race, while in the second he made up a few positions before taking the lead and winning alone. Andrea Adamo (Team Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) put in an excellent performance, finishing second in the first race and sitting behind the leader at a good pace in the second when he had to stop due to a technical problem.
Second on the podium was Tim Gajser (Team Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP), making his debut for Yamaha this season. The Slovenian completed two conservative races, which were certainly useful for getting more and more feeling with the bike, but also for understanding his physical condition; he finished the races in fifth and second place respectively, where he never seemed to push the pace too hard. We will see him again in Mantova (Italy) to understand more and more how his 2026 season could unfold.
Completing the podium in third place was Spaniard Oliver Oriol (Team KTM SS24) thanks to two placings on the treacherous track in Alghero.
Nella MX2 dominio incontrastato di Sasha Coenen (Team Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), che è sempre partito fortissimo. Nella prima frazione dopo uno start al comando è retrocesso di qualche posizione nel corso del primo giro per riportarsi poi al comando grazie ad una guida veloce e che sembrava galleggiare sulla sabbia sarda. In gara 2 partito in testa è andato a tagliare il traguardo in solitaria.
Alle sue spalle rispettivamente in gara 1 e 2 si sono piazzati: Simon Langenfelder (Team Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) e Ferruccio Zanchi (Team Ducati Beddini Racing), che grazie a questo risultato porta la Ducati sul terzo gradino del podio al suo esordio in MX2.
In MX2, Sasha Coenen (Team Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) dominated unchallenged, starting strongly in both races. In the first race, after taking the lead at the start, he dropped back a few positions during the first lap but then regained the lead thanks to his fast riding, which seemed to float over the Sardinian sand. In race 2, he started in the lead and crossed the finish line alone.
Behind him in races 1 and 2 were Simon Langenfelder (Team Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) and Ferruccio Zanchi (Team Ducati Beddini Racing), who, thanks to this result, took Ducati to the third step of the podium on its MX2 debut.
Nella 125 Moritz Ernecker (Team KTM Factory Rookies Team) non ha avuto rivali vincendo tutte e due le manche partendo sempre al comando. Emil Ziemer (KTM) è arrivato secondo sul podio grazie ad alcuni piazzamenti, mentre terzo Riccardo Pini (Team MCV Motorsport – TM). Buone le prestazioni di Andrea Uccellini (Team AU 353 Motorsport – TM) e Bertram Thorius (Team Fantic Factory EMX) che sono arrivati secondi rispettivamente in gara uno e in gara due, ma si sono dovuti ritirare nell’altra manche.
In the 125 class, Moritz Ernecker (Team KTM Factory Rookies Team) was unrivaled, winning both races after starting in the lead. Emil Ziemer (KTM) finished second on the podium thanks to several good placings, while Riccardo Pini (Team MCV Motorsport – TM) came third. Andrea Uccellini (Team AU 353 Motorsport – TM) and Bertram Thorius (Team Fantic Factory EMX) performed well, finishing second in race one and race two respectively, but had to retire in the other heat.
La Federazione Motociclistica come sempre attenta a tutto il movimento si è dichiarata molto soddisfatta di questa prima prova degli Internazionali, che vedrà ancora tutti i protagonisti di Alghero, più molti altri che non erano presenti per concomitanze di gare europee, al via nella prova di Mantova l’8 febbraio.
